This past weekend the late-night variety show launched an Empire-inspired skit “Them Trumps.” The spoof parodied the POTUS and his family as African-Americans. Kenan Thompson plays the POTUS Darius Trump, Leslie Jones as Malika, Chris Redd as Darius Junior and Ego Nwodim is L’evanka.

The clip opens up with Darius Junior breaking some bad news to the officer in chief saying “Sir they know everything. They know about Russia. They know you used campaign money to cover up an affair with Magic City stripper Cinnamon Mercedes. They know about the pyramid scheme you’ve been running through your company Darius Trump Country Hams.”

Suddenly the FBI raids the White Office and Darius is apprehended. But in Lucious Lyon fashion he is soon freed boasting “there’s only one rule in America: you can’t prosecute a sitting president! It’s called checks and balances, baby.”

Leslie Jones Goes In On New Abortion Ban: “You Can’t Control Women!”

The country is up in arms after Georgia, Alabama, Missouri and several other states passed new, extremely restrictive abortion laws. Several celebrities have spoken out again the legislation and over the weekend, we heard got Leslie Jones‘ stance on the issue during Saturday Night Live‘s “Weekend Update” segment.

Opening the scene in a costume resembling those worn by enslaved childbearers in The Handmaid’s Tale, Jones said she doesn’t know how “good of a baby maker she’s going to be.” “My eggs is dusty as hell, but I’ll give it a shot!” she joked.

“This is how it starts. I’m out living my life and I see on the news a bunch of states are trying to ban abortion and tell me what I can and can’t do with my body. Next thing you know, I’m in Starbucks and they won’t take my credit card because I’m a woman — instead of the regular reason, which is I don’t have no money on it,” she envisioned.

“What made me so mad is seeing the 25 Alabama senators who voted for the abortion ban,” she said showing a photo of 25 caucasian men. “All men… this looks like the casting call for a Lipitor commercial. This look like the mugshots of everyone arrested at a massage parlor. And, if any of them had lips, I would tell them to kiss my entire *ss.”

See Jones go off in the clip up top!

Page Six reports:

The comic, 51, recently scored a role in Eddie Murphy’s “Coming To America” sequel as well as her own Netflix special.

A source told us: “Leslie has chosen to depart as she has several upcoming projects in the works — and she thought it was the right time to go.”

Meanwhile, after months of speculation, Kate McKinnon will return, we’re told.

Jones is currently on screen in “Angry Birds 2” and will film her Netflix stand-up comedy special in Washington, DC, on Sept. 10 at the Warner Theatre.

SNL’s Michael Che To Star In A New Sketch-Comedy Show For HBO MAX

Now that HBO MAX has brought back Sesame Street and announced the upcoming release of the long rumored Snyder Cut of the Justice League, they’re setting their eyes on some new material and Saturday Night Live‘s Michael Che is about to cash in on their growing library of original programming.

Vulture is reporting that the Brooklyn comedian has just inked a deal with the new streaming service for a six-episode sketch-comedy series in which he will star and pen himself. Each of the six episodes will revolve around a theme such as police brutality, love and unemployment, while using the “sketches and vignettes to illustrate what it feels like to experience this from a black vantage point.” If you’re familiar with his work on SNL’s The Weekend Update or his own IG stories, you’d know you’re in for a helluva funny ride.

“I’m really excited to be working on this show with HBO Max,” Che said in a release. “It’s a project I’ve been thinking about for a while and we have a lot of sketches we want to shoot, so please wear your masks so that we can go into production.”

According to the press release the show will be “less about being ‘right’ and more about being honest, even at the risk of being controversial,” and with that being said, expect some outrage on social media from anyone who isn’t familiar with being Black in America.

No word yet on when the series is set to premier but we sure will be tuning into the show whenever it debuts on HBO MAX.

Daniel Kaluuya Shows Off Funny Bone In SNL Debut, Slams Racism During Epic Monologue

Daniel Kaluuya Shines In 'SNL' Debut, Calls Out Racism In Opening Monologue

Daniel Kaluuya is on one hell of a run. The Academy Award nominee, Golden Globe, and SAG Award-winning actor for his portrayal of Chairman Fred Hampton in Judas & The Black Messiah made his SNL debut, and he didn’t disappoint.

Before we got to see him participate in comedic skits, Kaluuya kicked off his debut with an electric opening monologue that tackled racism across the pond, taking a shot at the Royal Family who has been embroiled in a racism scandal following an interview featuring Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle.

“I know you’re hearing my accent and thinking, ‘Oh no, he’s not Black. He’s British.’ Let me reassure you that I am Black. I’m Black, and I’m British,” he opened up. “Basically, I’m what the royal family was worried the baby would look like.” Kaluuya’s joke is in reference to Markle revealing to Oprah Winfrey that there were members of the royal family who had “concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.”

“People ask me, ‘What’s worse, British racism or American racism?’” While trying not to laugh, Kaluuya answered, “Let me put it this way. British racism is so bad, white people left. They wanted to be free. Free to create their own kind of racism. That’s why they invented Australia, South Africa, and Boston.”

Kaluuya, who is of Ugandan lineage, jokingly spoke about both his parent’s huge families, “My mom is one of 22 kids, and my dad is one of 49,” he said. “My family’s sperm is literally about that life. They say Black don’t crack, but condoms do.”

The Get Out star also revealed the Kel as in Kel Mitchell of Kenan and Kel fame was the inspiration for his success for the theatrical play he wrote and produced at 9-years-old “with real actors and everything” that was based on the classic Nickelodeon show.

You can check out the entire monologue as well as some of the skits from Kaluuya’s SNL episode below.

Zone: Swizz Beats Bigs Up VERZUZ, Says Platform “Bigger Than ‘SNL'”

Revolt x AT&T Host Revolt 3-Day Summit In Atlanta – September 12

Swizz Beats and Timbaland created one of the best performance platforms to ever emerge in years with their popular VERZUZ series. Now occupying a larger slice of the cultural connection, Swizz declared that VERZUZ is “bigger than SNL” in regards to viewership.

In the Instagram Live breakdown of last Sunday’s VERZUZ between The Isley Brothers and Earth Wind & Fire, Swizz and Timbaland spoke candidly and earnestly about the battle DMX is undergoing for his life and how the event featured two of the famed rapper’s favorite acts.

The pair then shifted into thanking fans and supporters for tuning in and also made mention of the Triller app in light of their still-new collaboration with the streaming service.

However, what turned a number of heads was Swizz making the bold statement that VERZUZ has become true Saturday night viewing over the long-running Saturday Night Live comedy sketch show after a fan in the Live stream made the comparison.

“We bigger than that,” Swizz Beatz said. “Our numbers beat SNL already. Our numbers is bigger than SNL. That’s not even, like, cap. That’s real talk, it’s already happening.”

Timbaland quipped that they’re still fine-tuning the end results with their new partnership with the Triller network although it seems like they’re doing quite well if the response to the last two VERZUZ events are any indication.

“It’s not about, like, the best Verzuz,” Swizz added. “It’s about celebrating the creative. So some nights we gonna have the Super Bowl, some nights we gonna have the Pro Bowl, some nights we gonna have the Rose Bowl. But we’re gonna have a good time.”

‘SNL’ Taps Keegan-Michael Key and Lil Nas X To Star In Final Episodes Of Season

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon - Season 8

Source: NBC / Getty

Saturday Night Live is closing out season 46 with a bang in what is sure to bring the ratings and controversy with one of the internet’s biggest trolls who has a thing for twerking on demons in hell.

The legendary sketch comedy show announced their lineup for the last two episodes earlier this week on Twitter.  On May 15, Schmigadoon! star Keegan-Michael Key will host alongside “Driver’s License” singer Olivia Rodrigo, as the musical guest.  The following week The Queen’s Gambit leading actress Anya-Taylor Joy will close out the season with Lil Nas X, who will surely perform “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)” and a new song.

SNL must have taken a diversity and inclusion seminar because the show has cast some of the most in-demand stars in Black Hollywood and entertainment this season. Chris Rock opened the season in October with the strongest knees in the business, Megan Thee Stallion, as the musical guest. Following their arrival include Issa Rae, Dave Chappelle, Daniel Kaluuya, Regina King, and Regé-Jean Page.

One of the most memorable performances came from Kid Cudi, who copied his wardrobe after the late Kirt Cobain, lead singer of the 90s grunge band Nirvana. Clips of him in a spaghetti-strapped floral dress designed by Virgil Abloh went viral for days on social media,  which is probably why Lil Nas X is starring in the final show of the season.

Since the release of his jaw-dropping video for “Montero,” the 21-year-old rapper has battled critics for the artistic direction of his provocative video.  If you remember, it featured a half-naked Lil Nas X pole-dancing as it descends into the depths of hell, coupled with a “reverse cowgirl” positioned twerk on a demon.  We have some thoughts about that which deserves a read.

It’s not far-fetched to wonder if he’ll bring the same imagery to the SNL stage.

Kanye West Reportedly Assisting Kim Kardashian Ahead Of Her ‘SNL’ Hosting Gig, Twitter Isn’t Amused

Kim Kardashian will embark on a new task this weekend as the guest host for Saturday Night Live, which has seemingly divided some who believe the social media star isn’t fit for the role. To prepare for the big event, Kanye West is reportedly helping his estranged wife as she prepares for her hosting gig but many on Twitter aren’t amused.

Now in its 47th season, SNL is still going strong and the long-running sketch comedy series is still considered event television by many. When SNL announced its slate of hosts, many seemed to balk at the notion that Kardashian, who isn’t known for her comedy chops, would be a host. Still, however controversial the decision to place Kardashian in that role, perhaps West coming to her aid will be just the boost of confidence she’ll need to make due.

As part of the upcoming show’s promo, SNL’s Twitter account tweeted a photo of Kardashian in the writer’s room prepping for her appearance and the responses under the tweet were anything but supportive of the move.  In fact, it appeared that many Twitter users took the moment to air out their list of grievances with the popular public figure and mother of four.

The news of West giving a helping hand to Kardashian came by way of an inside source who gave the tip to E! News saying, “She values his opinion creatively and artistically. They’ve talked about some different ideas and he has been very supportive.”

The source added, “She is taking this very seriously and putting her heart and soul into it. She wants it go well and is completely focused on the task at hand. She’s definitely nervous and wants this gig to be a success.”

Kardashian is clearly willing to work with West on creative endeavors as the pair were spotted at the final DONDA listening session in what was a mock wedding display, and they’ve been spotted having dinner and have agreed to be solid co-parenting partners for their children.

Pete Davidson Exiting ‘Saturday Night Live’

NBCUniversal Upfront Events - Season 2022

Pete Davidson made his mark as one of the standout cast members of the weekend sketch show Saturday Night Live. Now, Davidson will take his leave of the program to focus on other creative endeavors.

What’s Next For Pete Davidson?

Variety reports that Davidson, 28, will exit SNL this weekend at the conclusion of the 47th season this weekend. Davidson won’t be alone as Aidy Bryant, Kate McKinnon and Kyle Mooney are joining the exodus.

More from Variety:

In recent years, Davidson has become more famous more for his life outside the program than for what he does on it. Early in his tenure, Davidson largely appeared only in segments on “Weekend Update,” where he often delivered self-deprecating stand-up routines. But he has developed a broader range during his time on “SNL.” In recent seasons, he has done impressions of celebrities like former New York governor Andrew Cuomo and actor Rami Malek, and has increasingly been involved in many of the show’s taped sketches. He often turns up as the recurring character Chad, an apathetic man who remains oblivious even in the face of dire or fantastic circumstances, like being stalked by a killer or going on a SpaceX mission.

The outlet adds that Davidson is slated to star and executive produce an upcoming series, Bupkis, which will appear on the Peacock streaming network. Much has been made about Davidson’s high-profile dating life, including his current romantic focus, Kim Kardashian. The actor and comedian was the frequent target of negative missives from Kardashian’s ex-husband, Ye FKA Kanye West, and largely avoided mentioning the matter until recently.

According to Variety, Bupkis will also star Edie Falco, who plays the mother of Davidson’s character in the show. He also has been hitting the comedy stage in recent weeks, throwing a light jab towards Ye but taking a much higher road.

Kid Cudi Shares Mental Health Message, Says Daughter Told Him He Looked “Pretty” On ‘SNL’

Saturday Night Live - Season 46

Source: NBC / Getty

Kid Cudi has always been open about his struggles with mental health. At an event for the New York-Presbyterian Hospital’s Youth Anxiety Center, the rapper opened up even further, adding that his daughter Vada’s approval is top priority for him.

Cudi and Vogue.com editor Chioma Nnadi led the conversation about anxiety, depression, and the importance of self-care and treatment.

The New York-Presbyterian Hospital’s Youth Anxiety Center was founded 11 years ago and hosts a clinical and research program committed to addressing the epidemic of anxiety and depression in youth and adolescents, per Vogue

“Before I actually had therapy, the music was there for me. It was the perfect way to express myself and feel safe doing it,” the Man on the Moon rapper shared. He added that having lost his father at a young age and as the father of a young daughter, he deeply understands the importance mental health in young people. “It was one of those things where it was just like: How do you come up to Mom who’s dealing with four kids, and your dad died, and she’s taking care of everybody on her own, that you’re dealing with something?,” he said about his childhood, per Complex

He noted that he always checks in with his daughter about her mental health, “I’m always asking my daughter if she’s cool. I’m always checking in with her,” he said. “That’s important; I feel like that’s good for our connection.”

He added, “At no point has my daughter ever asked me why I paint my nails. She thinks they’re cool,” he said. “I don’t care what anybody says when my daughter thinks it’s dope.”

“Everything that I’m about, she’s about,” Cudi said of Vada. “This is a taste of the next generation. She accepts me for as wild and rock and roll as I am.”

When the rapper appeared on Saturday Night Live last year in a dress as an homage to late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, he said that his daughter sent him a message of approval saying, “My daughter [texted] me and said, ‘Daddy you looked so pretty in your dress,’” he said. “That was all I needed. No one else’s opinion mattered.”

Megan Thee Stallion can now cross hosting SNL (Saturday Night Live) off her list of accomplishments.

Tuesday (Sept. 20), SNL revealed its lineup of hosts and performers for the upcoming 48th season. Megan Thee Stallion will not only be performing but will also be tasked with hosting duties on Oct. 15.

Hosting andddd performingggg. REAL HOT GIRL SHIT.@nbcsnl tune in ALL HOTTIES,” the Houston rapper wrote in an Instagram post.

To kick the season off, Kendrick Lamar will take a break from his Big Steppers Tour to hit the SNL stage while Top Gun: Maverick star Miles Teller handles hosting duties.

Willow joins Brendan Gleeson, the actor who played disgraced former president Donald Trump in the Showtime original movie The Comey Rule.

This won’t be the first time either Megan Thee Stallion or Kendrick Lamar will be on SNL. Thee Stallion was on the iconic sketch comedy show in 2020 along with Chris Rock. She performed “Savage” and was joined by Young Thug to perform “Don’t Stop.”

Both Megan Thee Stallion & Kendrick Lamar Have Graced The SNL Stage Before

For Lamar, this will be the third time he has been tapped to be a musical guest on SNL, but who knows, maybe we will see him in at least one skit.

The announcement of the first three hosts and performers comes on the heels of SNL alum Chris Redd announcing he will leave the show after this season. He joins the growing list of SNL talent like Pete Davidson moving on the NBC show.

SNL did announce hiring four new cast members, Marcello Hernandez, Molly Kearney, Michael Longfellow, and Devon Walker, to fill the Black cast member void Chris Redd will create when he officially leaves.

Congrats to Megan Thee Stallion, Kendrick Lamar, and Willow. We will be tuning in.

Megan Thee Stallion Previews Comedic Chops In 'SNL' Promo

While the girls (Nicki Minaj and Latto) are throwing shots at each other on Twitter, Megan Thee Stallion is prepping to show off her comedic chops and hit a twerk or two on SNL.

Ahead of her hosting debut and performance on SNL, a funny promo featuring Megan Thee Stallion and SNL alum Heidi Gardner arrived on Thursday, Oct. 13.

In the clip, the Houston rapper reacts to Gardner revealing that show will be awesome, but it hasn’t been written yet. “Wait… the show ain’t written yet?” The “Her” rapper asks Gardner with the comic, adding, “nope.”

“But it’s already Thursday,” Thee Stallion points out, asking, “we got people working on that, right?” and Garnder confirms, “nope.”

In another take, Gardner adds Thee to her name, which leads to Megan hilariously checking her and telling her, “don’t do that.” The next cut for the promo, a clearly jealous Gardner says she will be doing comedy and magic since Megan Thee Stallion will be handling hosting and performing duties.

In the final take, Gardner tries to imitate the rapper’s signature tongue out and “ahh sound,” which she fails at miserably.

While this is the first time Megan Thee Stallion will be hosting the iconic late-night sketch comedy show, it won’t be the first time she has performed for the SNL audience.

Thee Stallion hit the SNL stage back in 2020 and performed her hit records “Savage” and “Don’t Stop,” with an appearance from the now-incarcerated Young Thug.

We’re excited to see Megan Thee Stallion on SNL, and we know the hotties are too. You can watch the promo below.

Megan Thee Stallion Is Taking A Much-Needed Break

Source: NBC / Getty

Megan Thee Stallion and her bionic knees are taking a well-deserved break.

The Houston rapper took to Twitter on Saturday, Oct. 15, to tell her followers and, most importantly, the Hotties that she needs some time off. “Hotties im really sorry but after SNL I really gotta take a break I’m so tired, physically and emotionally,” the “Her” rapper tweeted.

Megan Thee Stallion has been booked and busy. She held down hosting and performing duties on SNL, and most recently, her Los Angeles home was broken into while she was in New York rehearsing for Saturday Night Live.

Los Angeles law enforcement say that two men allegedly broke a glass door in the back of Thee Stallion’s home and made off with $300K-$400K worth of jewelry and other items.

“Material things can be replaced but I’m glad everyone is safe,” the 27-year-old Hip-Hop star tweeted.

Megan Thee Stallion Was Emotional During SNL Performance

Megan Thee Stallion’s mental and physical fatigue could have shown during her performance of her song “Anxiety” off her latest album Traumazine.

While rapping the song’s hook, “Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Bad bitches have bad days too. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, bounce back. How a bad bitch always do. All I really wanna hear is, “It’ll be okay,” Megan Thee Stallion raps as she chokes up and fights back the tears to continue performing the song.

Eagle-eyed viewers caught the moment and immediately offered the rapper words of encouragement.

“As someone who suffers from anxiety, I’m in tears watching Megan holding herself together during this performance,” one person tweeted.

If anyone deserves a break, it’s Megan Thee Stallion, and she’s been working overtime, making cameos on Marvel Studios’ She-Hulk, hosting SNL, performing all over the globe, and even a possible appearance in Stranger Things

Also, if you’re feeling mentally exhausted or need to talk to someone, Megan Thee Stallion has a website you can visit where you can get the resources you need.

Take as much time as you need Thee Stallion. The Hotties appreciate you and will understand.

Kanye West has produced some very memorable moments on Saturday Night Live; we get more details about his infamous Donald Trump rant in 2018 from former SNL star Chris Redd.

As spotted on Variety, the rapper’s very polarizing appearance on the comedy sketch show went down in infamy when he started preaching about his admiration for the former President of the United States. Naturally, this episode left many viewers feeling a way. In a new interview with The Daily Beast, former SNL alumni Chris Redd offers more context behind what was going on behind the scenes prior to Ye going on his MAGA soapbox.

“I remember the dress rehearsal where he tried his dress rehearsal version of that, and I heard it, but there was music playing still so people were like sitting there and vibing,” Redd explained. “But I was listening to his words, and I was like, bro, he’s about to pull some bullsh*t. And I’m not about to be on stage for that. I’m not going to entertain this. Like, I’ve been a fan of Kanye my whole life. And I miss the old Kanye.”

Chris went on to say Ye clearly chose violence that morning. “He came in there wanting to shoot everybody — verbally — and I just felt that was disrespectful, because we’re all grown adults. And now all of us don’t like you. He just came in there with a chip on his shoulder, ready to talk sh*t.”

When asked if Ye liked his impression of the “Gold Digger” rapper he said of course not. “I mean, it’s safe to assume my man don’t like that impression,” Redd said. “Judging by interactions, I don’t think he likes it that much. But, you know, I don’t like what he be saying all the time. So I think we’re even there.”

Recently Chris Redd was attacked outside of New York City comedy club. You can read more about it here.

Some ‘SNL’ Writers Reportedly Boycott Over Dave Chappelle Hosting The Show For A Third Time

Dave Chappelle Returning To Host SNL Met With Alleged Boycott

Source: Jason Mendez / Getty

The drama around Dave Chappelle has not gone away just yet. Chappelle’s third SNL hosting stint is allegedly not sitting well with some writers.

Page Six reports Dave Chappelle hosting SNL this weekend is not sitting well with the iconic sketch comedy show’s writers. An insider revealed to the publication that some writers plan on not being there when the comedian hosts the show.

Per Page Six:

We’re told that some staff writers are so furious that the comedy superstar — who has made transphobic and homophobic jokes — has been chosen to helm the iconic show that they’re sitting out the episode.

“They’re not going to do the show,” an insider told Page Six. “But none of the actors are boycotting.”

Celeste Yim, one of the writers on the show, allegedly shared a message following the news of Chappelle’s return on Instagram.

“I’m trans and non-binary. I use they/them pronouns. Transphobia is murder, and it should be condemned,” the Instagram Stories post read.

Yim’s post didn’t hint at a boycott, and according to TMZ’s reporting, a rep for Dave Chappelle said the comedian and the writers had no issues.

Per TMZ:

Dave Chappelle’s starting his third day of meetings with ‘SNL’ cast and writers, and his camp says there’s been zero talk of an alleged boycott related to Dave’s issues with the transgender community.

The Trans Community’s Issues With Dave Chappelle

Dave Chappelle found himself in trouble with the trans community following the release of his Netflix special, The Closer, which led to protests at the streaming network and many people in the LGBTQ community calling some of the jokes transphobic.

While many called for Chappelle’s cancellation, Netflix continued its working relationship with the comic, and he has done numerous shows.

It still looks like SNL is proceeding as scheduled, with Chappelle as the host and Black Star as the musical guest.

Dave Chappelle Goes At Ye AKA Kanye West During ‘SNL’ Opening Monologue

Dave Chappelle Theatre Dedication Ceremony

Dave Chappelle has once more returned to the studios of Saturday Night Live as a host of the long-running sketch comedy series. The Washington, D.C. native and current Ohio resident took shots at Kanye West and Kyrie Irving in his usual conversational style.

Dave Chappelle, 49, came out on the SNL studio stage and opened up with a direct shot at Ye aka Kanye West. Chappelle prepared a statement for his friend, saying that a direct and simple apology will, quote, “buy [Ye] some time.”

What Chappelle naturally zeroed in on were the antisemitic comments from Ye and the perceived antisemitic stances of Irving. Chappelle also took a gentle swipe at the Hollywood establishment with the tongue-in-cheek humor that he’s best known for

Chappelle again hinted at drawing his stand-up comedy career to a close after enduring criticism for his recent comments about certain segments of the LGBTQ community. In fact, some SNL staffers vowed to boycott the show in protest. Chappelle will have to brace for additional shots at his work after many supports of the Jewish community felt his monologue normalized antisemitism.

Later in the SNL episode, Chappelle went back to his sketch comedy days by playing several characters from Chappelle’s Show with Donnell Rawlings joining him, Ice-T and the SNL cast for a hilarious spoof of HBO’s smash hit, House of the Dragon.

The musical guests for the episode was the duo of Talib Kweli and Yasiin Bey, best known as Black Star, with the pair running through two tracks from their album No Fear Of Time produced fully by Madlib.

‘SNL’ Alum Chris Redd Calls Attack Outside NYC Comedy Club “A Planned Situation”

Actor and comedian Chris Redd is opening up about the brutal attack outside of a New York City comedy club in October that left him hospitalized.

According to a November report from Deadline, the attack happened outside the famed Comedy Cellar on Oct. 26 as Chris Redd was walking in to perform a show. The unknown assailant quickly approached him, sucker-punched him in the face then fled the scene. Redd had previously said that he thought the man hit him with “something metal.”

In an new interview with SiriusXM’s The Bennington Show, Redd said that he saw in surveillance footage that the assailant had been hanging around outside of the venue prior to his arrival.

“People called it a random attack. I don’t believe that. He waited for me for an hour before I got there,” he said. “He was on the phone, he had a lookout dude and everything. All I’m saying is this, I’ve never done nothing random where it took me an hour to do it.”

Redd continued, “I’ve never just randomly did a thing that took a buildup. That’s not what random is. So, I will say, it was a planned situation. That’s what I feel like in my heart and soul. That’s what I saw on the footage.”

On a more comedic note, Redd added that the attack did “wonders” to raise awareness about his HBO comedy special.

“No promotion was better than getting knocked in the f***ing face,” he said. “People didn’t even know I had a special out and they were like, ‘Aw, hope he’s okay! What, special?’”

No one has been arrested in the attack and Redd has even complained that he was “ghosted” by the chief of police after he inquired about the investigation.

Lizzo “Very Hurt” By Comments That She Makes Music For White People

Lizzo is once again addressing critics who have accused her of making music for “white people.” The 34-year-old singer responded to the past comments in a recent appearance on The Howard Stern Show, according to The New York Post

Lizzo began: “[It’s] very hurtful, only because I am a Black woman, and I feel like it really challenges my identity and who I am, and diminishes that, which I think is really hurtful,” the “Special” singer said. She said that her music is influenced by the feel-good songs of the ’70s and ’80s–calling her songs, “funky, soulful, feel-good music.”

“I feel like a lot of people, truthfully, don’t get me — which is why I wanted to do this documentary, because I was like, ‘I feel like y’all don’t understand me, y’all don’t know where I came from …’” she continued. “And now I don’t want to answer no more questions about this s–t. I want to show the world who I am.”

Lizzo, who was born in Detroit and relocated to Houston in her youth, told Vanity Fair in a cover story last month, she said that she was seen as different for the music she listened to.

“It was a Black school. Mostly Black and brown, Caribbean, I had Nigerian friends…They were all listening to what was on the radio: Usher, Destiny’s Child, Ludacris and I was into Radiohead’s ‘OK Computer.’”

“I kept it hidden, even when I was in a rock band, because I didn’t want to be made fun of by my peers — they’d yell, ‘White girl!’” she said.

She recalled that she was also picked on for how she dressed.

“I was wearing these flared bell-bottoms with embroidery down it — and they’d say, ‘You look like a white girl, why do you want to look like a hippie?’” Lizzo recounted. “I wanted to be accepted so bad; not fitting in really hurt.”

Despite the criticism, Lizzo is making her sound work for her with three  Grammy Award wins and eight nominations. The singer will also close out the year as the final musical guest of 2022 on Saturday Night Live this Saturday (Dec. 17).

Michael B. Jordan Nails Portrayal Of A Nutty Jake From State Farm In ‘SNL’ Sketch

"Fantasy Football" Premiere & Event

State Farm’s “like a good neighbor” tagline got the SNL treatment last weekend when host Michael B. Jordan put on the signature red polo shirt and took over a family.

In the sketch, Michael B. Jordan shows up when a set of parents were looking to file a claim after their daughter clogged a toilet with her stuffed animals.

Mikey Day plays the confused dad who comes home to discover that Jake from State Farm really was “here for you 24/7” in fact, playing with his kids. Jake also takes the kids and their mom, played by Heidi Gardner, to church on Sunday morning — sparking a fight between the couple.

As Jake continues to take over the family, teaching the little girl piano and playing catch with the son, Day’s character becomes more and more perplexed. He even looks up rates of other insurance when Jake shows up in the shadows, whispering that it won’t help because State Farm matches rates. Jake then taunts Day with a sinister voice saying, “Save more when you bundle home and auto.”

Left with nothing, Day mourns losing his family to handsome insurance pitchman Jake, drunkenly singing “Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there,” as he plans to jump off a bridge. “He took everything,” he roars.

The whole sketch takes another turn when it’s revealed that the entire scene is a commercial for Liberty Mutual insurance.

The hilarious sketch isn’t the first time Jake from State Farm has been the subject of satire. In a commercial during Super Bowl LV, the company hired Drake to don the red shirt as “Drake from State Farm.”

The actor who plays Jake is actually Kevin Miles from Chicago, in 2021 he told Forbes about his experience with the notoriety that comes with the role.

“They never say Kevin, which is okay (laughs). They’ll say ‘Jake.’ Even on-set, they just say ‘Hey Jake!’ and I just answer. It definitely started with the mask a little bit. I’d walk my dog and people would be like Hey, you’re ‘Jake from State Farm.’ They could still tell! One time I was at the store and I had my glasses on with a hat, deep incognito mode. Someone was just like Man, your voice is just so recognizable. That felt cool and weird.”

As for Michael B. Jordan, he will make his directorial debut with Creed III in theaters March 3, 2023.

Chadwick Boseman Plays Black Jeopardy As T’Challa, Makes More History

T'Challa On SNL

Source: SNL / SNL

It’s official—T’Challa has got the Midas touch (Infinity Gauntlet be damned!). This past Saturday (April 7) the star of the record-breaking film Black Panther, Chadwick Boseman, stopped by New York City to host Saturday Night Live and not only did he help create a comedy sketch for the ages as the Wakandan King, but his presence also helped SNL score a 4.5 Live+same day rating high for the episode (though having Cardi B on the ticket surely didn’t hurt either).

Participating as T’Challa on Black Jeopardy where the answers are to be told in the form of the most ratchetest question, T’Challa’s honorable and civilized responses to the game show’s trivia were belly aching funny.

Suggesting that the reason anyone would put their grandmother’s name on the cable bill would be to “honor her as the foundation of the family” as opposed to avoid messing up their own credit is an example of just how Wakandan and American culture hilariously differ.

After a few more morally just responses, T’Challa got the hang of the game when asked how he’d respond if “Karen Brings Her Potato Salad To Your Cookout.”

“It is noble that she would volunteer to cook for everyone and although I have never had potato salad, I sense that this white woman does not season her food. And if she does it is only with a tiny bit of salt and no paprika, and she will probably add something unnecessary like raisins. So something tells me that I should say ‘Aw hell nah, Karen! Keep your bland-ass potato salad to yourself!”

And a classic is born.

After celebrating his answer with a Coming To America reference, “In the face!” Keenan Thompson (who brilliantly helped sell the sketch with his facial expressions and reluctantly agreeing with the civilized answers given by Boseman) ended things with one last zinger for the colonizers.

“Oh, well, the sound of white people shopping nearby for real estate means that the fun is over.”

Bravo.

Nicki Minaj is making up for lost time with the impending release of her still-unnamed fourth studio album, with “Chun Li” and “Barbie Tingz” smashing the Internets and sparking renewed interest. The Queens superstar took to Twitter Sunday night to announce a world tour, and also said she’ll be rolling out new music for the season finale of Saturday Night Live this weekend.

“All ima say is this tour is [row of emojis] and if u miss it, don’t be mad at Chun. Be mad at YOU! Chun gave u ALLLL the time in the world. This album so [row of prayer hand emojis] AAAAHHHHHHHH!!!! I can’t take it,” Minaj tweeted Sunday evening.

She followed with, “US first. Then ALL AROUND THE WORLD. BUT THERE’S another surprise you won’t know. Bwahaaahahaaaaaa. The ones at the tour will be elevated to Team Minaj ELITE. Yes, I’m leaning towards M&G’s. Only cuz my babies been so patient. But pls don’t hold me to it. Love, #ChunLi”

As expected, the Barbz lost their minds over the news, but there was far more to go. When a fan asked about her upcoming SNL performance, she let one proverbial cat out the bag.

“I’ll perform a song you never heard b4. My fave on the album. plus my second song. You can prob guess what that’s gonna be,” Minaj replied. A fan, truly trying to get the scoop, asked Minaj what the track number of the song would be, getting the reply of “#1” which suggests the song is the intro to the new project.

We’ve posted Nicki Minaj’s emoji-laden and fun-loving tweets below, along with some reaction on the flip.

Snoop Dogg Said 2Pac Pulled Up To ‘SNL’ Set With Weed & Madonna To Howard Stern

At the age of 46, Snoop Dogg is still much a relevant figure that has used Hip-Hop to propel himself to a pop culture status very few would believe over the course of his two decades and going career. Sitting down with radio icon Howard Stern, the Doggfather regaled listeners with a tale where the late Tupac “2Pac” Shakur blessed him with a bag of weed and pulled up with Madonna in tow.

Snoop was a guest on The Howard Stern Show Tuesday (May 15) to promote his Bible Of Love gospel album, but given the freewheeling nature of Stern’s show, things get talked about in frank fashion. The conversation shifted to Snoop saying he reached out to 2Pac when he was in New York to perform on the set of Saturday Night Live but was a little light on green.

The story is told in typical Snoop fashion complete with the curses, but how he revealed who ‘Pac was rolling with was pretty hilarious as he gave the hint of who the mystery woman that went along for the ride was by singing Madonna’s “Like A Virgin” hit. Stern gave Snoop a light ribbing saying that his request for weed took 2Pac away from sexy time with the pop songstress.

Kanye West Turns In Struggle ‘SNL’ Performance, Drops Pro-Trump Rant

Saturday Night Live - Season 44

Source: NBC / Getty

Kanye West appeared to be returning to his old self after announcing a move back to his hometown of Chicago and preparing a new album for the masses. As a last-minute replacement musical act for SNL‘s 44th season opener, West turned in a performance many folks are criticizing while also rocking a MAGA hat and delivering a rant supporting President Donald Trump.

New York Post reports:

West, wearing a red “Make American Great Again” hat and the show’s cast standing behind him, launched into the screed off camera, but it was caught on video by comedian Chris Rock.

“I wanna cry right now, black man in America, supposed to keep what you’re feeling inside right now,” he sang as he paced the stage.

He continued: “The blacks want always Democrats you know it’s like the plan they did, to take the fathers out the home and put them on welfare. Does anybody know about that? That’s a Democratic plan.”

Then he turned to his support of Trump.

“There’s so many times I talk to like a white person about this and they say, ‘How could you like Trump? He’s racist.’ Well, if I was concerned about racism I would’ve moved out of America a long time ago.”

West performed a bizarre “I Love It” set with Lil Pump, and “We Got Love” with Teyana Taylor before attempting to rock “Ghost Town” when SNL producers cut his set short. According to the reports, that’s when West launched into his rant.

You can see the rant in full below.

Coonye Back: Kanye West AKA Ye Came Up Lame In ‘SNL’ Performances According To Twitter

Saturday Night Live - Season 44

Source: NBC / Getty

Kanye West duped the world into thinking we were getting, at the very least, Graduation Yeezy back. However, it appears that the “free-thinking” Chicago producer is hellbent on undoing whatever goodwill folks were willing to extend his way after his SNL performance.

The MAGA hat made a return just as it did earlier in the week, and West pushed a pair of new songs onto the masses that we can assume are from his upcoming Yahndi release, which didn’t drop on Saturday (Sept. 29) as promised. Ahead of the performance, West says he’s now changing his name to Ye for still unspecified reasons.

The profanity-laced “I Love It” alongside Lil Pump and “We Got Love” with Teyana Taylor were the featured songs. Oh yeah, there as also that unnecessary pro-Trump rant he dropped along with accusing SNL producers of bullying him while demanding he not wear the MAGA hat on air.

Conservatives, desperate for a win these days, are praising West for his stance but Twitter is keeping its foot on Yeezy’s neck as a result of what went down. Candace Owens went on a Twitter spree celebrating West’s cooning for Trump, joining a growing chorus of others who thought the act was brave.

Check out some of the reactions to Kanye West’s SNL performances, along with jabs at his rant, below.

Kanye West Dragged By Unlikely Foe After Tweeting Plans To “Abolish The 13th Amendment”

Source: Ivan Nikolov/WENN

Kanye West is in danger of being canceled forever after he went on a pro-Trump rant this past Sunday. In the clip, you can hear some folks in the audience cheering, but many others boo’ed.

On top of that foolishness, the “I Thought About Killing You” rapper also hit Twitter with a photo of his MAGA hat, declaring it a symbol of good things. What’s hilarious is, even wypipo are annoyed at this point.

Along with the photo, ‘Ye tweeted: “This represents good and America becoming whole again.  We will no longer outsource to other countries. We build factories here in America and create jobs.  We will provide jobs for all who are free from prisons as we abolish the 13th amendment. Message sent with love.”

Now you know, when Captain America curses you TF out, something is really wrong. Chris Evans retweeted ‘Ye with a message that has since gone viral. “There’s nothing more maddening than debating someone who doesn’t know history, doesn’t read books, and frames their myopia as virtue,” Evans wrote. The level of unapologetic conjecture I’ve encountered lately isn’t just frustrating, it’s retrogressive, unprecedented and absolutely terrifying.” What he basically said was “F*ck you, Yeezus.”

Apparently what Kanye West meant to say was this:

Check out all the receipts below and ‘Ye fans, let us know if you plan to ride with your fave ’til the wheels fall off or nah?

Lil Wayne & Future Talk About Respectfully Loving Booty in Spoof ‘SNL’ Rap Video

Saturday Night Live - Season 44

Source: NBC / Getty

This past weekend Lil Wayne was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live so it shouldn’t have surprised anyone that SNL would drop a spoof music video in which Weezy, Future, and “Booty Kings” Kenan Thompson and Chris Redd praised women shaking their rumps. What no one expected was that the song was basically a sensitivity training video about how to properly treat women in the club and life in general.

Titled “Permission” the comedic rap video features Lil Wayne and company getting lit in a club with female company while Booty Kings spit lines like, “Shake that booty (if you wanna!)/Drop that booty (it’s your choice!)/We would love to touch your booty (but we will respect your voice!).”

Hilarious.

Future and Wayne also chimed in with their respectful rhymes with Weezy talking about “Love that booty tender/never get aggressive/that booty got insurance/that booty got progressive.” Even when it’s comical rap Lil Wayne gotta be clever with it.

Check out SNL’s Lil Wayne and Future featured video below and enjoy some good clean rap.

Ice Spice’s stranglehold of 2023 continues.

Ice Spice will be shakin ass, but not in a deli. Instead, it will be on SNL’s stage when the show returns for its 49th season on October 14.

The iconic NBC sketch comedy show confirmed the Bronx princess and arguably one of Hip-Hop’s hottest acts will be the musical guest of the season premiere that will see OG cast member Pete Davidson return as a host.

Ironically, there was a rumor that Ice Spice joined the elite roster of women who fell for Davidson’s “charm,” but TMZ confirmed that the comedian/actor was not munching on Hip-Hop Annie.

Ice Spice continues to rise on the Hip-Hop charts with her single Deli and is coming off a colossal MTV VMAs win.

Davidson is fresh from starring in the recent films Transformers: Rise of The Beasts and Dumb Money and saw his NBC Peacock show Bupkis get a second season.

SNL’s 49th season returns after the writer’s strike-shortened season 48. According to Deadline, all of the cast, which includes Michael Che, Mikey Day, Andrew Dismukes, Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, Punkie Johnson, Colin Jost, Ego Nwodim, Kenan Thompson, and Bowen Yang, are returning.

Chloe Troast has been added to the cast that also sees James Austin Johnson and Sarah Sherman earn promotions from being featured players to repertory status this season.

Ice Spice is not the only huge musical act SNL can boast for Season 49. Bad Bunny will follow up, and he will also be hosting the following week on October 21.

Ice Spice Brings Big Bronx Energy To ‘Saturday Night Live’ Performance

Ice Spice’s career continues to soar. She took the stage at Saturday Night Live and left her mark on Studio 8H.

Hypebeast is reporting that the Bronx, New York, native made her SNL debut this past weekend. Hosted by alumni, and what seems to be a forever enemy to Kanye West, Pete Davidson, the episode was the launch to the iconic series’ 49th season. While the American late-night live television sketch show didn’t produce any comedic moments that have since gone viral, it seems the crowd was ready to see the “Bikini Bottom” rapper do her thing.

During her first set Ice Spice performed “In Ha Mood” while being backed by two female dancers. She breezed through the song while teasing her signature assets via a cropped t-shirt and high-cut denim shorts. For her second performance she was introduced by none other than Taylor Swift. The “I Knew You Would Be Trouble” singer was in the house to support her boyfriend Travis Kelce who contributed to an earlier sketch. From there Ice Spice brought her newest single “Pretty Girl” to life with help from Nigerian singer songwriter Rema.

Earlier this year the MC released the deluxe version to her Like..? EP. She would then go on to work with Dunkin’ for an “Ice Spice Munchkins Drink.” You can watch Ice Spice’s Saturday Night Live sets below.
